About Ascend Odyssey
Ascend Odyssey is a planning and progress companion for progression games. You say what you are working toward, break it into steps, record what you actually did, and see where you got to.
The aim it is being built toward: help players plan smarter, track their progress, optimise their decisions, and master every journey across the progression-based games they love. That sentence describes a destination. What follows describes the road so far, and the two are kept separate everywhere on this site — see How this site talks about what is built below.
RuneScape 3 is the first game, not the product
Ascend Odyssey is built for progression games generally. RuneScape 3 is simply the first one supported, and the parts of the product that hold your goals, your steps and your records know nothing about it: they speak in metrics, objectives and recurring content, and each game supplies its own words for those. A test fails the build if that boundary is crossed.
That is not architectural tidiness for its own sake. It is what makes the second game a module rather than a rewrite, and it is why nothing on this site is written as though RuneScape is the point.
The line this product will not cross
Most third-party game tools earn the suspicion they get. These are the promises that make Ascend Odyssey a different kind of thing, and they are not a compliance footnote — they are the product decision the rest of it is built on.
It never plays the game for you.
No automation, no macros, no game client, and nothing that touches one. Ascend Odyssey gives you a place to think; you play the game.
It never asks for a game password.
Not once, for any reason. It has no use for one, so there is no situation in which asking would make sense — and anything that does ask you for one is not us.
It never reads your game account.
Every level, every experience figure and every minute recorded here is one you typed in. Nothing is fetched, guessed or filled in on your behalf, which is why nothing here can be quietly wrong about your account.
It never tells you what to do.
You decide what you are working toward. The product holds the plan, does the arithmetic, and shows you where you actually are against it.
It never passes off someone else's writing as its own.
Where a guide is useful, it is linked to the people who wrote it. Game formulas are implemented and computed here; published numbers are recorded with a note of where they came from.
How this site talks about what is built
Four words, used the same way on every page. They come from one table in the product itself rather than from adjectives chosen page by page, so "in development" means the same thing here as it does on your dashboard.
- Available now
- Built and working. You can use this today.
- Experimental
- Usable, not yet verified, and it may change. Treat what it shows as provisional.
- In development
- Being built now. Not usable yet, and there is no date to give you.
- Intended, and not started. Listed so you know where Ascend Odyssey is going.
Only the first of those uses the present tense about a capability. The others describe an intention and say so. None of them will ever carry a date: a date nobody in a position to keep it has given you is worth less than the vagueness it replaced.
Where it stands today
Ascend Odyssey is in a closed beta, with two game modules and neither of them finished, and it is early. The honest way to find out whether it is useful to you is to read what you can do today — the same page separates that from what is being built and what has not started, so nothing on it needs to be taken on trust.
What is held about you, and what is done with it, is set out in the privacy notice. You can export everything you have entered, and you can delete the account and have it go.
Independent, and unofficial
Ascend Odyssey is built independently. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Jagex Ltd, and RuneScape and Old School RuneScape are trademarks of Jagex Ltd. Nothing here is an official source for any game.
If something on this site is wrong, or a guide it links is out of date, help has the way to reach a person about it.
